Good morning Primary Two!
This week we will be learning about Pirates. I hope you learn some new interesting facts. You will also have to imagine that you are a pirate! Keep up the good work with your reading, online activities and mental maths games. New tasks have now been set. Try to read lots of stories. Perhaps you could do drawings and write sentences to make your own book.

Literacy: Handwriting
Find things in your house beginning with 'i.' Listen to the 'Ii' song. Complete the 'Ii' worksheet and draw and label at least 3 things beginning with 'i' on the back. Listen to 'The Phonics Song' to revise all the initial sounds.
Numeracy: Number Bonds for 8
We are learning about pairs of numbers which can be added together to make 8. These are: 0 add 8 makes 8, 1 and 7 makes 8, 2 and 6 makes 8, 3 and 5 makes 8, 4 and 4 makes 8, 5 and 3 makes 8, 6 and 2 makes 8, 7 and 1 makes 8 and 8 and 0 makes 8. Watch the videos 'Number Pairs for 8' and 'Number Bonds for 8.' Call out a number between 0 and 8. See if your child can say the number pair to make 8 really fast. For example if the adult says '6' the child should say '2.' Complete worksheet 'Number Pairs to 8 Super Spiders.'

Literacy: Story 'The Night Pirates'
In this story there are lots of different pirates. Have a close look at the different shapes and sizes of the pirates and their clothes. Draw yourself as a pirate. Around the outside of the picture write lots of adjectives to describe yourself eg. curly hair, stripy trousers, brave, funny. Think about what you are wearing and what kind of pirate you are. This is called a 'Character Portrait.'

Don't Be Shellfish - Counting in 2's, 5's and 10's
Practise counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. Remind your child that even numbers end in 2,4,6,8 or 0, multiples of 5's end in 5 or 0 and multiples of 10's end in 0. This is an extension activity so it might be helpful to write these tips at the top of the page. Alternatively have a go at the worksheet 'Ducks 2 Times Tables.'
