Big Schools' Birdwatch 2026
Mon 02 Feb 2026Our Eco Committee successfully completed their Big Schools' Birdwatch survey last week! Despite the wind and rain, they managed to spot so many different species right here on our doorstep. 🌳
By submitting their data online to the RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch, they are helping to protect nature for the future.

NSPPC Visit
Fri 30 Jan 2026🗣️ Speak Out, Stay Safe! 🗣️
We were delighted to recently welcome the NSPCC to our school this week for their important "Speak Out, Stay Safe" campaign!
Our students took part in interactive assemblies and workshops designed to empower them with the knowledge they need to stay safe. With the help of the NSPCC mascot, Buddy, the children learned:
- To recognize different types of worries and understand that abuse is never a child's fault.
- How to identify "trusted adults" in their lives they can talk to if they ever feel scared or unhappy.
- About Childline and how to access support whenever they need it.
We are so proud of how maturely our pupils engaged with these sensitive topics. A huge thank you to the NSPCC volunteers for delivering such vital messages in a child-friendly and empowering way! 💚

Grandparents Day
Mon 26 Jan 2026Celebrating Grandparents Day as part of Catholic Schools Week 2026! 🕊️👵👴
We had a truly heartwarming morning at our school as we welcomed our wonderful grandparents for a very special assembly. It was a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the faith, love, and wisdom they pass down to our children every day.
The hall was filled with smiles and maybe a few happy tears as the children performed songs and shared stories about why their grandparents are so special. Thank you to everyone who joined us for making this such a memorable day in our school community!
Grandparents are a treasure in the family.

Fri 23 Jan 2026🔬 Science Week: Sensory Suspicion! 👩🔬
Our Primary 6 scientists have been putting their taste buds to the ultimate test today with some blindfolded taste testing! 🙈
As part of our exploration into how our senses work together, the students had to identify mystery flavors without the help of their eyes. While we learned a lot about the relationship between smell and taste, we also learned that Mr Keenan had slightly too much fun picking out the samples… 🧐

Tue 20 Jan 2026🧪 The "Magical" Leak-Proof Bag! 🧪
Our P2 scientists have been busy investigating materials and their amazing properties! This week, we braved the "Leak-Proof Bag" experiment to see if we could poke sharp pencils through a bag full of water without making a splash. 💦
What happened?
The children were amazed to find that even with multiple pencils pushed all the way through, the bag stayed completely dry!The Science Bit:
It might look like magic, but it’s actually chemistry! The plastic bags are made of polymers—long, flexible chains of molecules. When the sharp pencil pushes through, these stretchy chains wrap themselves tightly around the pencil to create a temporary seal, keeping the water safely inside.However, our young researchers discovered that as soon as you pull the pencils out, the "magic" ends and the water escapes!
Well done to our curious P2s for their fantastic predictions and scientific observations.

P5 took on the ultimate engineering challenge for #ScienceWeek 2026. Using everyday items like string, pencils and cardboard, they built pulley systems to lift heavy loads! 📦✨
It’s amazing what you can create with a bit of curiosity and some recycling!
