  🔬 Science Week: Sensory Suspicion! 👩‍🔬

   

  Our Primary 6 scientists have been putting their taste buds to the ultimate test today with some blindfolded taste testing! 🙈

   

  As part of our exploration into how our senses work together, the students had to identify mystery flavors without the help of their eyes. While we learned a lot about the relationship between smell and taste, we also learned that Mr Keenan had slightly too much fun picking out the samples… 🧐

  🧪 The "Magical" Leak-Proof Bag! 🧪

   

  Our P2 scientists have been busy investigating materials and their amazing properties! This week, we braved the "Leak-Proof Bag" experiment to see if we could poke sharp pencils through a bag full of water without making a splash. 💦

   

  What happened?
  The children were amazed to find that even with multiple pencils pushed all the way through, the bag stayed completely dry!

   

  The Science Bit:
  It might look like magic, but it’s actually chemistry! The plastic bags are made of polymers—long, flexible chains of molecules. When the sharp pencil pushes through, these stretchy chains wrap themselves tightly around the pencil to create a temporary seal, keeping the water safely inside.

   

  However, our young researchers discovered that as soon as you pull the pencils out, the "magic" ends and the water escapes!

   

  Well done to our curious P2s for their fantastic predictions and scientific observations.

  🪝 Heave-ho!
   

  P5 took on the ultimate engineering challenge for #ScienceWeek 2026. Using everyday items like string, pencils and cardboard, they built pulley systems to lift heavy loads! 📦✨

   

  It’s amazing what you can create with a bit of curiosity and some recycling!

  Our Camogie team took in the Cumann na mBunscol

  tournament at Clann Eireann last week.

   

  The girls have been training hard and really enjoyed the run out. We’re so proud of the effort and teamwork they’ve already shown this season.

• Shoe box appeal

  We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible success of our Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year! 🎁🎄

   

  Thanks to the generosity of our students, parents, and staff, we managed to collect a grand total of 73 shoeboxes packed with gifts, essentials, and love. ❤️

   

  Seeing the school hall filled with these boxes was a truly heartwarming sight. Each shoebox represents a moment of joy and hope for a child who might otherwise receive very little this Christmas.

   

  Your kindness will make a real difference in the lives of children around the world this festive season.
